¡Hagamos un MILAGRO por el aire!

The “¡Hagamos un MILAGRO por el aire!” (“Let’s make a miracle for the air!”) contest started in 2006 as a pilot project aimed at high school students to raise their awareness about air pollution and its impacts. It was also intended to provide an opportunity for young adults to express possible solutions to air pollution problems and to promote greater interest towards science and scientific careers among high school students.

The 2005-06 pilot contest was very successful, hence the Molina Center decided to broaden the scope of this program during its second year of activities and included over 200 schools from the Federal District and the State of México. The student contest was revised to include an Encounter, following the United Nation Model for High Schools.  In addition, a teacher professional development workshop was initiated to promote the interaction of teachers with scientific experts in various disciplines and to discuss the current understanding of environmental issues.

The Molina Center is holding its third-year program during the 2007 – 08 school year, using the same model that was developed and successfully accomplished during the second year. The Youth Encounter, Teachers’ Workshop and Poster Exhibit will take place in April, 2008.
